Escape the Cold: WestJet’s New Flight Announcement

As summer approaches, thoughts of winter and escaping the chilly weather in Calgary may already be on your mind. Luckily, a recent announcement from WestJet could inspire your next cold-weather getaway. The Calgary-based airline has revealed a lineup of new flights to sunny destinations around the country, offering a promising escape from winter for Canadians. Starting November 9, Calgarians can eagerly anticipate once-weekly flights to the newly opened airport in Tulum. Additionally, WestJet will be introducing new flight routes to warm destinations from other major Canadian cities such as Toronto, Kelowna, and Winnipeg.

John Weatherill, the executive vice president and chief commercial officer of the WestJet Group, expressed the company’s commitment to cementing its position as the leading leisure airline in the country. Weatherill revealed that the WestJet Group will be offering more seat capacity than any other airline to sun destinations this winter, solidifying its dedication to providing exceptional travel experiences. Notably, the frequency of flights to Tulum will be increased from Toronto, with three flights per week scheduled to commence in November. For those seeking an alternative warm destination outside of Mexico, WestJet will also be launching a once-weekly flight to Grenada in the Caribbean, beginning November 3.

Petra Roach, CEO of Grenada Tourism Authority, shared her excitement about WestJet’s expansion of accessibility to Grenada for Canadians. The addition of this new flight route promises to invite travelers to explore the vibrant culture, pristine beaches, and lush landscapes of the Spice Island. For Canadians residing outside of Toronto who are eager to visit these exotic destinations, a series of well-timed connecting flights will be available to facilitate the journey to their sunny shores. With these new flight offerings, WestJet is poised to provide Canadian travelers with enticing opportunities to trade the cold for a warm and memorable getaway in the upcoming winter season.
